The Role
We are looking for an experienced Devops Engineering Manager to help lead our Compute Operations engineering team in our Developer Lifecycle organization. The Compute Operations team works to create a scalable and reliable Compute substrate layer to support FanDuel’s project large-scale complex application microservice architecture across several dozen target deployment locations under unique geographic and regulatory constraints. This team defines our compute substrate layer, Kubernetes cluster management, VM based stateful workloads, and maintains compute infrastructure as code assets. This role will specifically focus on leading the VM based stateful workload portion of the team. 

You will have established Devops Engineer capabilities. You’re excited to learn how to develop and grow Engineers and will start out with a small number of line-reports to put your learnings to the test. You’ll be responsible for providing an outstanding employee experience tailored to your line report’s individual needs. You’ll be responsible for leading smaller projects or features within a team. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage and lead a platform engineering team which supports the development of performant and reliable applications across FanDuel. 

  • Lead conversations to remove blockers and foster collaboration across teams 

  • Collaborate with various cross-functional software engineering teams to enhance and unify our overarching engineering culture. 

  • Translate overarching strategic goals into actionable and detailed plans that can be readily implemented by engineers. 

  • Demonstrate technical leadership across the organization. 

  • Shape and enact standards and baselines for uplifting engineering across FanDuel. 

  • Under your guidance, supervise the development and implementation of engineering tools seamlessly integrated into the Development Lifecycle. 

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep familiarity with hosting technologies Kubernetes, EC2, ECS, Lambda 

  • Proficient experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, ansible etc.. 

  • Proficient experience in software development (e.g. Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, etc..) 

  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably AWS with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)

  • Strong experience with managing programs and projects via tools like Jira 

  • Transform strategic objectives into actionable programs of work, empowering engineers to execute effectively and drive successful outcomes 

  • Proficient in executing programs related to Platform engineering, Infrastructure engineering, Devops, etc..
