The Head of Finance is the senior finance leader at Blip in Porto and is a key member of the Blip Leadership Team , involved in all strategic decisions related to the location. This 1 year fixed term contract is to the cover the maternity of our Head of Finance.

The role is responsible and accountable for the effective running and oversight of all aspects of the finance function at the location while ensuring legal and tax compliance.

This role reports into the Director of Group Corporate Control based in London and may require travel to other locations.

Responsibilities :

Financial Compliance

  • Ensure compliance of all legal rules, regulations & guidelines;

  • Ensure compliance requirements of Blip with contracts outside of Payroll Scope;

  • Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity

  • Ensure that statutory accounts are accurately produced and delivered to the Group and company directors;

Finance Leadership

  • Ensure all leadership team decision making financially sound & adheres to regulations;

  • Lead the Blip finance team with line management of facilities & operations staff;

  • Represent Porto location in events, meetings etc;

  • Implement and deliver the Flutter finance strategy and support the Director of Corporate Control implementing group strategy in Porto location

Accountabilities : (delegated responsibilities)

Financial Control

  • Accountable for the further development of an effective financial accounting function . This ensures the accurate and timely capture and processing of financial transactions and the application of International Financial Reporting Standards and best practice to Porto’s accounting;

  • Work with the team to continually develop, implement, embed and document robust finance controls, processes and procedures : ensure that the organisation operates within these;

  • Manage on the annual external audit and any internal functional audits ;

  • Identify, assess and mitigate organisational risk ;

  • Oversee the smooth delivery of the month-end timetable with the group;

  • Ensure the smooth running of the accounts payable ;

  • Help on the efficient delivery of the monthly payroll ;

  • Oversee the organisation’s cash forecasting and treasury function;

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Drive and oversee the annual budgeting and in-year forecasting processes ;

  • Oversee the delivery of an effective business partnering function to the Local & Group Leaders, managing all Finance stakeholders;

  • Work with Group Finance and FP&A manage all budgets and provide commentary on the business’ performance;

  • Work with Group Finance and FP&A to ensure all new initiatives/projects/ business cases are reviewed and assessed

Financial Operations (Systems)

  • Lead local finance systems implementations and process improvements

  • Work with business owners to help manage service contracts that we have and where necessary, support in negotiating programme/ project contracts;

  • Review commercial contracts with third parties and interact with legal counsel;

  • Ensure group operations are covered with a contract compliant with Portuguese law ;

  • Ensure all systems are compliant with PT legislation and the company needs are met;

Business management (Leadership)

  • In cooperation with the local Leadership team develop goals and objectives that tend to growth and prosperity of the company.

  • Design and implement business plans and strategies to promote the attainment of goals;

  • Ensure that Porto office has the adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities and finance advisory to decision making;

  • Coordinate facilities operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity of Porto office and manage the facilities operations team from a local perspective;

  • Ensure healthy Group stakeholder relationships are maintained;

  • Establish clear SLA’s and schedules for cross charging services to divisions within the Group

  • Undertake ad hoc projects and activities to support the Group strategy;

Experience :

  • Holds appropriate professional qualification for the role (e.g. Qualified accountant with recognised body);

  • Significant finance experience in Financial Control / FP&A / Business Partnering with 5+ years’ experience since qualification;
