The Role...
As Senior DevOps Manager you will report to the Director of Sports book Enablement and will support subdomains (Risk and Trading, Sportsbook Online) within our broader Sportsbook domain.
You will be a leader within the Sportsbook Enablement Vertical working with teams in multiple locations. You will be a manager of managers and will lead your area in delivering FanDuel’s strategy of modernising our infrastructure as we continue to deploy software in multiple locations at a rapid pace. You will work closely with our SRE, Networking and IT operations teams to deliver a reliable, consistent and efficient platform.
As a Senior DevOps Manager, you will also be accountable for hiring, performance appraisal, and the reward of your teams, focusing on helping your people define their career paths and goals for the short and long term.
You will be responsible for establishing, growing, and maintaining DevOps processes within our Sportsbook Domain.
Your exceptional communication skills will be key, not only to leading your tribe through a challenging, continuously changing environment but also to your consistent interactions with a diverse group of stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing...
Delivery support:
- You will work closely with Senior Management and Directors of the ‘tribes’ to deliver key technical and product initiatives
- You will work closely with our new SRE team to set a clear enablement and resilience strategy for Sportsbook.
- Drive continuous improvement through the organisation to reduce manual overhead
- Prioritise and execute key deliverables against our deployment strategy

- You will work closely with DevOps Managers to enable consistent agile practices
- Develop and execute a strategy to address BAU and support asks in a continuous delivery environment

- Sets out a clear set of success metrics and holds the team accountable for them
- Puts in place systems and processes for the squads to learn effectively from data
- Seeks to optimise the development process to reduce the time to Deploy software and Mitigate issues
Operational excellence:
- Understands intimately the dependencies between components and how they combine to deliver service to the end consumer
- Ensure high levels of uptime and rapid resolution of customer-facing issues, ensuring the right level of support to meet our business needs and customer expectations
- Builds and maintains effective relationships between third-party providers, suppliers and partners that ensure FanDuel needs are met and dependencies are managed
- Ensure adequate risk and compliance practices are adhered to
What We're Looking For...
- Experience in leading operational (DevOps) teams
- Experience developing distributed, redundant, and transactional systems.
- Ability to set priorities and focus teams on what is most important.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to explain complex technical challenges simply and effectively;
- Commercially aware with a strong customer focus;
- Experience working closely with other technology teams;
- Ability to drive incident resolution and coordinate a response, ensuring teams maintain focus to achieve a resolution.
- Hands-on experience with managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience in driving continuous improvement practices
- Experience in complex programmes of work including major data, architecture, and infrastructure migrations.
